Cows, quilts and handmade windows: The special events at h+h cologne

Date: 29 - 31 March 2019

Place: Germany

Top decision makers and buyers from the DIY and handicrafts industry have long since noted the 29 to 31 March 2019, because h+h cologne is once again offering the world's most comprehensive overview of the market for the "handmade business". A high quality talk and workshop programme in the "my lovely livingroom" event space and various special events guarantee trade fair visitors real added value - with fascinating DIY ideas and marketing concepts that are precisely tailored to the needs of the industry.
An example please? Thank you: Karin Wahl, author, designer and trainer for visual marketing, presents stagings especially for the summer in her "Handmade Windows" - Display window design to imitate special event. The focus everywhere is on benefits for traders. How do I design my display window in such a way that passers-by stop and come into the store? How, for example, can a crocheted garden hose from which wool flows, or an old stool "tell" a story that inspires customers? In the context of tours on location, Karin Wahl provides corresponding practical tips and also looks at the costs. She also has a list of useful ingredients with affordable materials at the ready. Original display windows don't need to be expensive! A professional window can in fact be recreated with a cool story, a few flicks of the wrist and affordable accessories", the expert is convinced. At h+h cologne, she also offers a very special service: on the 2nd day of the trade fair, trade visitors have the opportunity to acquire decoration tips for their business in the context of a speed consultation on the subject of display windows (30.03.2019, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m., hall 3.1, A 19/E 19). Photos and dimensions of own display windows are welcome, application is not necessary. However, there may be waiting times.
Green is not only a colour. This is made clear in the special event "h+h goes green". Here it's all about "green" products that are in the meantime firmly anchored in the portfolios of many trading companies. This is because an ever increasing number of customers are asking: where do the materials come from? Where, how and by whom are they manufactured, and what consequences does that have for human beings and the environment? At the special event, exhibitors show natural and recycled materials and provide information about ecological and social standards in the context of the production and delivery chain, as well as the corresponding product certifications.
Experience DIY trends live and handiwork without limits h+h cologne would be hard to imagine without the trend fashion show, which is once again one of the highlights of the event programme. The latest fall/winter collections, products and accessories of the member companies of the Initiative Handarbeit e. V. can be seen at the traditionally quite crowded catwalk: being there is a must, because here you can experience live which colours, DIY trends and styles will define the coming season.
The Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e.V. is this year contributing a really colourful eye-catcher as a special event. It is showing an exhibition with the best quilts from the "Rainbow! call for member submissions. The conditions were strict: a common theme, the same format, the same fabric, which had to be visibly processed. And nonetheless, no limits were set to the imagination, because the technique and execution could be chosen freely. The results are unique and place the spotlight on an unbelievable repertoire in terms of wealth of ideas and technical textile possibilities. The titles of the rainbow quilts thus once again make the motto of the "Colour your Business" event area of "my lovely livingroom" experienceable up close: "Castle of Colours", "Colours Lend Wings", "My Rainbow Press" or "Rainbow from Space". By the way, those who are considering trying to quilt as a rookie should stop by the stand of the Patchwork Gilde (hall 3.1, stand A 21). During the trade fair, Bea Galler will be working at her sewing position and will show the progress of a child's blanket, from the planning through the search for a pattern and the selection of fabric to completion.
Handicrafts unite cultures. This is underlined by Madeira Garne at h+h cologne with the exhibition "Cow and More". Cow and More is the title of the project in the context of the "Guldusi" embroidery programme in Laghmani in Afghanistan, which has existed since 2004. In the competition, cow motifs embroidered by Afghan women were incorporated into textile exhibits created by participants from Europe. Each of the objects is thus the work of four hands, which stands for successful multicultural cooperation. The creative subsequent processing of the embroidery exhibits is also viewed as a sign of solidarity with the embroiderers from the Afghan villages and their development progress.
